(Dates of Our Choice) In addition to his famous Double Eagle, Augustus
Saint-Gaudens fashioned another design hailed as one of the most stunning
in American coinage--the $10 Indian gold piece, which was to replace the
$10 Liberty. The Indian Eagle was not without scandal, however. The obverse
design, featuring Miss Liberty adorned by a full Indian war bonnet with
star-tipped feathers caused quite a stir. The public got over their initial
shock and quickly grew to appreciate the bold new design.

US Type Gold: $10 Liberty, VF or better
(Dates of our Choice) The Liberty Eagle inherited its design from
two popular sources. The obverse was patterned after the popular 1816 Coronet-type
Large Cent. And the imposing eagle on the reverse is still considered one
of the most fascinating eagles ever to grace any U.S. coin. Because of
its convenient size and denomination, the $10 Liberty was instantly popular
and became one of the most circulated coins in U.S. history.
The design was created by Christian Gobrecht and features a Liberty
head encircled by 13 stars representing the first 13 colonies

(Dates of our Choice) The Liberty Half Eagle holds the distinction
of being the only coin of any type or denomination to be struck at all
seven mints. They were struck in two types--the ultra-scarce "No Motto,"
minted from 1839 until 1865 and the "With Motto" (IN GOD WE TRUST) type,
struck from 1866 until 1908.
